There’s been a self care Sunday trend circulating social media and I’m here for it and everything it stands for. As women, we have the natural born gift to multitask and it just seems like we always have a bunch of things going on at once. Between our multi-hyphenated roles, a lot of us struggle with finding time to carve out time for self care. We push self-care to the side, because we think there’s more important things going on that need to be managed. But sis, that’s not true.
Self care is just as, if not more, important as the other things going on in our lives. The truth is that if you’re not prioritizing self care, the empire around you could be seconds away from crumbling.
Think about it, the way you manage your duties is directly connected to your spiritual, mental and physical health. If you’re not healthy, your tasks won’t be executed with excellence. So therefore, in order to perform at your best, you need to prioritize maintaining your spiritual, mental and physical well-being.
With 2019 right around the corner, we women, need to get our ducks in a row and include self care into our busy schedules. Because the reality is that when you’re good, everything you manage is good as well. (Oh, the power of being a woman!)
Self care doesn’t have to be dedicated to a Sunday or even one day out of the week. The goal is to set aside time in your schedule to focus on your spiritual, mental and physical health. My personal self care regimen consists of activities that help elevate my spiritual, mental and physical health. Whether it’s going to church, unplugging from social media and working out, I make it a point to regularly indulge in activities that improve my overall wellness.
Remember ladies, self care is about serving yourself and resetting so that you can be your best. In order to serve others with excellence, you NEED to serve yourself. Even God took a day to rest, so you definitely can and should too!

Self Care Ideas
1. Take a bath
2. Get your nails done
4. Turn your phone off
5. Stay off of social media
6. Get a massage
7. Read a book
8. Work out
9. Eat a healthy meal
12. Do breathing exercises
13. Sleep in (Yes, turn off your alarm clock)
14. Book a staycation at a near by hotel/ Air BNB (Got a family or a lot going on at home that makes it impossible to indulge in self care? Leave the house for the day to reset.)
15. No technology (Yes, that means, no emails)
16. Go to church
17. Read a book
18. Relax with loved ones
19. Do something that makes you laugh
20. Say NO to the things that may stress you out
21. Get a facial (You can also give yourself a facial at home!)
22. Go hiking
23. Go shopping (Treat yourself, you deserve it)
24. Walk away from confrontation or drama (It’s not worth you mental state, sis. Walk away.)
