A common misconception about Christianity is that a life with Christ is synonymous with being boring and serious all the time, but it’s not! You can AND SHOULD totally live an amazing life as a Christian.
A surrendered life should be a more fulfilling life than your previous life in the world. Think about it, you have much more to celebrate! However, sadly one too many Christians have traded their heels for house shoes, somehow believing that God has mandated all of His children to be home ridden. But that’s not true!
Can I let you in on a little secret?
Christ wants you to live your best life. The bible says it’s a gift from God to enjoy the wealth and possessions that you worked your butt off for. As the recipient of the beautiful gifts God has blessed you with, it’s your job to live the best way possible.
“This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God,” Ecclesiastes 5:18-19.
The bible says it flat out in the passage above, it’s your duty to find pleasure in the harvest of your sowing. You worked hard for what you have sis and it’s totally okay to enjoy it!
Even Jesus, being as busy as He was, took the time to celebrate. His first miracle was turning water into wine at a party (wedding). If you’re not personally convicted by God to not go out or have a glass of wine with friends, then, by all means, enjoy the life God’s blessed you with.
Note that I said convicted by God and not people. There are times when God will call you into a season of isolation which means you won’t being having a social life at that time. However, be vigilant of the convicted individual who loudly petitions for their personal conviction to become a law for everyone else.
By having a social life you don’t have to compromise your beliefs. When you’re confident in who you are in Christ, you won’t easily succumb to the ways of the world. You can experience a night out on the town and still be a beacon of light for Christ. Coincidentally, when you can be the God-version of yourself in a room with others, you have a greater opportunity to be an example.
Whether it’s going out to eat, partying with your friends, or going shopping; God wants us to enjoy the fruits of our labor because it’s His gift to us.
Go out and live your life boo! That’s what God wants you to do. 😘
