Today I got a recipe for y’all! You can’t eat it but you can and definitely should digest it so that you can live your best life yet! Today we’re talking about the recipe for true success.

What is success and how do you measure it? Is it based off of accolades, goals reached or happiness?

Well, the Webster dictionary defines success as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose or attaining prosperity.

Have you noticed that the people who believe that money buys happiness are usually the ones without a fortune? Those who’ve found “success” and have money realized that material success isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. They’re the ones who end up depressed or desperately seeking happiness in anything even if it’s an artificial source.

Now I’m not saying I’m smarter than Webster or anything but I’ve achieved personal goals and didn’t feel successful. I actually felt an emptiness after reaching my goals and an urge to chase for more success. It put me in this unhealthy, never-ending cycle of trying to reach the next plateau in order to have this feeling of completion. It never ended because true success isn’t defined by tangible awards and personal desires achieved.

So if you measure success on what’s fleeting, it’s like your playing Russian roulette with the status on your life. One day you can have it all and the next it could tragically disappear.

True success is when your cup is full and you feel complete. It’s about alignment. When you’re aligned with God’s will for your life, you’ve accomplished purpose and achieved success. True success is about pursuing God’s goals as well as attaining them. Yes, true success is even found in the journey on the way to your goals being reached.

We all desire to be successful. And you can have it. It’s yours for the taking! If you follow these steps, you will find the recipe for true success.

  1. Pray harder than you do anything else. Consistent prayer positions you to hear God’s voice. The more you speak with Him, the more you recognize His voice and have clearer understanding on what He’s saying to you.
  2. Rely ONLY on God. My best advice is to write down the instructions and promises God gives you. Sometimes, more often than not, after you receive a word from God, worldly input will feed you variations of the promise you were given. This input comes from sources like well intentioned friends/ family, voices in your head or any other 3rd party source. At times the input sounds so good that you can start believing those words while forgetting what God told you. If you write down God’s promises as soon you get them, you can always refer to them and not be swayed by the influence of others.
  3. Go when God says go. What good is knowing what to do if you don’t do it? As soon as God gives you the green light to move, MOVE! Get up off that couch and start using the tools you’ve been gifted to do what God has called you to do.
  4. Do it to give God glory and not your reward. I’ll just lay this Bible passage here for y’all. Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21. He remains, things fade. When you put all your eggs in His baskets you’ll find true success.

Success is a beautiful thing when goals are being met and you have joy. I hope and pray that these steps help you find true success.
