Y’all know it is flu season and I seriously have no time or patience to get sick! Jesus be a fence! If you don’t have the sniffles than perhaps your best friend, parents, spouse and/ or kids have it. Today I want to share with you guys some of my favorite ways that I prevent myself from getting sick during this season as well as some hacks for a speedy recovery.
If it has side effects then I am NOT for it! I am not one for medicinal drugs because I truly believe God created healing properties for us within this earth.
Once you learn how to properly use mother nature to improve your health, you will probably never go back to them drugs. *hehehe* I love healing myself the natural route because you actually heal yourself! Did you know that medicinal drugs do not actually heal you but only take away/ reduce the symptoms of your illness! Using meds is like putting a bandaid over your sore while the true problem still lies underneath. Natural healing literally provides your body with the nutrients it needs to fight off the sickness. Our body is a vessel that God uses for His glory and He made our bodies fully equipped to fight off anything that will stop us from fulfilling that purpose.
One of the mottos that I live by is “you ain’t have to get ready, if you stay ready.” I give my body the ammunition to fight off sickness all year long by eating lots of fruits and veggies. Our bodies are designed to fight off viruses, bacteria and any other foreign invader. In order for our bodies to work it’s magic, we need to give our body the necessary nutrients to combat anything that comes it’s way. You have probably heard your whole life how important it is to eat your vegetables and it is so true! There are vital nutrients in fruits and vegetables that our body needs in order to perform at its best and fight off sickness. For best results, try eating a variety of fruits and vegetables regularly so that your body is getting all sorts of body performance and disease fighting nutrients!
What to do if you are already sick? *Please note that I am only sharing my favorite natural remedies and there are other remedies out there!* **Also, please consult with a doctor before trying anything below**
Ginger This aromatic root is a packed with anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties that help kill the bacteria found in colds. Ginger contains gingerols and shaogals which are anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the swelling and pressure of the mucous membranes in the sinus cavity. With that being said, the once blocked up mucus can flow easier allowing the cold to pass through your body. I take fresh ginger root and turn it into a tea!
- 6 tablespoons of freshly grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- Juice of 1/2 of a small lemon
- 4 cups of water
Once your water is boiling, throw in all the ingredients. Steep for at least 5 minutes. Drink 3-5 cups a day for best results.
Apple Cider Vinegar Whether you are experiencing indigestion, cramping or bloation, ACV is great for instant stomach pain relief. It also helps bring your stomach to it’s natural Ph balance to fight off any underlying issues.
Thanksgiving is literally right around the corner! I don’t know about you but I completely pig out and enjoy my Thanksgiving dinner. Yes, vegans have fun on Thanksgiving too! I mean, it is only once a year right?! If you are like me and have a sensitive stomach or experience major bloating after eating a big meal, try the elixir below for instant relief.
Apple Cider Vinegar Elixir
- 8 ounces of fresh water
- 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of honey
Mix it all together in a glass and enjoy!
Green Tea If you ever get tension headaches, place a lukewarm green tea bags over your eyes with a steamy towel laying across both tea bags and over your temples in a dark room. Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve headache tension. This hack has literally save my life on countless nights!
