Lately I have been on a mission to enjoy the single life. I have spent a good chunk of my single season unhappy. I have been waiting for something that God has not called for yet. And to be honest, I’m tired of waiting.
To wait is the action of staying where one is or delaying action until a particular time or until something else happens. So by definition if you are waiting for God to bless you with your Boaz or Ruth, then you are putting apart of your life on hold until that appointed time comes.
We were created for more than marriage and God has some amazing plans for you right now where you are. If you are so stuck on being single then you may miss out on the joys of the now. There is nothing wrong with being single or even desiring marriage, but I want you to know that there is so much purpose in you right now. You can be content while being single.
Singles often feel left out of the party, when we are the party! If you struggle with enjoying your single season, here’s 3 ways to enjoy the single life.
1. Grow In Christ
Do you want to be the happiest you’ve ever been? Then press into Christ! When we mature in our faith and put all of our trust in him, we obtain perfect happiness that can not be sourced from anywhere else. Singleness is the perfect time to grow in your walk with Christ without all of the distraction of juggling a family and work life.
It is so important to have Christ at the center of your life in EVERY season because nothing or no one will ever replace him.
2. Try Something New
Remember that thing that you’ve always wanted to do but for what ever reason you never actually got around to doing it? Now is the chance! When you are single, there is no one you have to report to. You can simply get up and do. Whether it is taking a trip or cliff diving, go out and have fun. Take advantage of this now because when you have a family, you will not be able to easily do all the things you want to do. Being single does not equate to being lonely and bored. Have the time of your life!
3. Get To Know Yourself
This may sound cliche, but getting to know yourself is a great advantage of being single. Learn to love yourself because if you don’t love you then who will? Or how will you ever see someone else’s love for you. Spend time by yourself and get to know yourself in new ways.
Thank you for taking the time to read the ways that I have been enjoying my single life. What are some ways you have been enjoying yours? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.
