I hope y’all beauties had a merry Christmas and a happy new year! I’m back from being MIA over the holiday season. I tried to blog and be active on Instagram but I took my own advice from my Holiday Survivals Guide For Singles article and took a much needed break from social media.

Typically, the holiday season is easy breezy for me, but this year I found myself comparing and coveting, which is why I stepped away.

Overall this holiday season was difficult. From being stuck in a tornado storm to feeling extremely lonely to having the flu, my Christmas was nothing like I had prayed for. But by New Year’s Eve it started to turn around when I realized the goodness of God even in the midst of my despair.

Have you ever had a season where you were so fixated on one aspect of your life that you failed to realize what was going on in the other parts of your life? Like you got a bunch of things going on, but you can’t get your mind off of that one problem area? That was me in 2019. I spent a ton of time focusing on what I didn’t have that when it came time to worship God, I had trouble doing it.

Sometimes we get so caught up in what we don’t have that we can’t see (or the enemy blinds us from) the great things God has done for us.

I spent the last 5 minutes of 2019 at church finally aware of God’s goodness. He did so many great things for me last year, let alone the decade. The area I’ve been struggling in is only a small part of my world and it’s role in my life is a big as I allow it. Bottom line, it shouldn’t have the power to dictate how I view Christ.

Nonetheless, I feel like I’ve turned a new leaf and I’m back on track! This year, I am practicing gratitude and journaling regularly so that I never get back to that point of not being able to see God’s goodness. God is indeed GOOD!

In addition to the life-changing revelation I received on new year’s, my church put me on to a new (to me) artist, that I’m loving right now, Pastor Mike Jr. We brought in the new year singing his song “Big” and I haven’t stopped listening to his album “Live Free” since. It’s a great Christian album with that soulful/ hip hop vibe that you know I love so much.

You may already be hip to his music, but if you’re not I want to make sure that you’re on top of what’s dope in gospel. Side note: This is such an exciting time for gospel music. I just love the turn christian music is taking. I’m here for it!

Check out the album below

Prayerfully, you have a wonderful start to this decade, grow closer to God and achieve all the goals He’s assigned to you!
